ANNUAL "NC COUNCIL CONFERENCE" ONLY ONE MONTH AWAY!

12/01/2009 - 13:00
12/04/2009 - 13:00

SHIFTING GEARS TO STAY ON THE FAST TRACK is the title of this year's conference. This annual event has historically been the largest one in the world of public mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services in North Carolina, and has been well attended by service users since the years of the mental health reform. So what's in it for Consumers or self-advocates?

First, there is an open forum opportunity for consumers and consumer-supporters attending the conference scheduled for Wednesday evening at 5:30. Location will be posted and will be available at the NC CANSO booth in the exhibit hall. Additionally, here are some of the subject offerings:

* Evolve or Dissolve: A Stakeholder Summit

* Legislative Changes and the Role of the LME Board

* An Invitation to Recovery: A Guide to Systems of Care for Individuals with Addictive Disease

* Creative Collaboration in Response to Crises

* Organizational Change: Improving Services and Supports for People with Disabilities

* The State of Community Behavioral Health Care: Federal and State Forces Driving our System

* Trauma Informed Care
Please note that December 1st is a "pre-conference." To learn more about the schedule, please go to the Council's web site, www.nc-council.org.
This year the North Carolina Council has assisted with scholarships for some CFAC members but their resources are limited so there are no more availble. Perhaps people reading this could talk with service providers to see if there is scholarship potential there! Empower yourself and at least ask, especially if your provider agency is one of the larger ones!
